Texas accepts online ordinations and does not require ministers to register with the government before performing marriages.

Requirements

  • Proof of ordination
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Complete and return the marriage license within 30 days

  • Licensed or ordained ministers, priests, or rabbis
  • Judges and justices of the peace
  • Retired judges

Marriage License Info

Marriage licenses are obtained from the County Clerk. There is a 72-hour waiting period (waived with premarital counseling). The license is valid for 90 days.
