Maryland accepts online ordinations and does not require ministers to register with the government. Any ordained minister may perform marriages.

  • Proof of ordination
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Complete and return the marriage license within 6 months

Who Can Officiate in Maryland

  • Ordained ministers or clergy of any religious denomination
  • Judges and clerks of the circuit court
  • Baltimore City clerk of the court

Marriage License Info

Marriage licenses are obtained from the Clerk of the Circuit Court. There is a 48-hour waiting period. The license is valid for 6 months.
